AISC Search DLL

09-04-2013 19:45

This is an updated version of the DLL first released by AISC in 2001. It is updated to V14.1 Shapes Database. This allows the user to add VBA code to any spreadsheet and pull properties in without doing complicated lookups. 06/26/15: The install file is updated to ensure the DLL and support files are placed in the correct windows directory.

Dell and HP computers have been found to prevent the installation of this DLL. If you have one of these, you need to ensure that the file MSVCR71.DLL is in your  C:\windows\sysWOW64 folder. This is the same directory the AISC_Search.dll will be installed in.  You may need to copy the file from where it is located on your computer to the correct folder. If you have a Dell, you may be forced to login as a superuser in order to copy this file.

Also, some windows 7 updates will delete this file. You will have to replace it if this occurs.

I am getting a .dll missing error from your update. Is there a known issue with your AISC search attachment?

for some reason I am not able to install the AISC search feature
This DLL was released by AISC on a Database CD in 2001 without any information on how to use it. I hacked around in VBA and got it to work with Excel. The spreadsheet that is installed with the DLL contains all the code anyone needs to add the lookup capability to their own spreadsheet. All that needs to be done is to copy the Module AISC_Search from the AISC_Search_DLL_14.xls VBA Project window to the VBA Project Window in the new spreadsheet. The information for the lookups is there in the spreadsheet
This DLL is the AISC Shapes Excel Database converted into a Visual Foxpro free table with a small amount of code to interface with the Visual Foxpro runtime files that will be installed.
