Weld Analysis IC Method v1.1 Instantaneous Center of Rotation Method. It requires the coordinates of weld segments' end points as input and graphically plots the segments. It has a routine that calculates the C coefficients of common weld group patterns. Please watch out for the REVISED/CORRECTED version of "WELDING CAPACITY CALCULATOR" standalone application I posted earlier. Bugs and mathematical errors are already addressed in this version.

Weld Capacity Program Installer This a standalone application which calculates Welding Capacity by INSTANTANEOUS CENTER OF ROTATION Method written in Visual Basic . The application provides a graphic interface [like AutoCAD drawing editor] where welding can be drawn graphically -- represented by LINE objects. The editor supports typical drawing utitlity functions such as DIMENSIONING, MOVE, ZOOM, ROTATE, EDIT, PAN, ERASE and etc. -- more or less simulating AutoCAD. It also has SNAP tools used to snap to Object's Snap Points when drawing a Line namely: ENDPOINT, MIDPOINT, NEAREST, INTERSECTION and PERPEDICULAR. After drawing all the LINES (which represent the WELDS), weld capacity calculation can be then performed by just clicking on the assigned button. The application also includes the following calculators: 1.) Complete Scientific Calculator 2.) Bolt Coefficient Calculator -- which is used in calculating Bolt Group capacity by instantaneous center of rotation method. Hard to calculate manually, these values are usually derived from Table 7-7 to Table 7-14 of AISC Steel Construction Manual, 13th Edition. 3.) Weld Coefficient Calculator -- which is used in calculating Weld Group capacity by instantaneous center of rotation method. Hard to calculate manually, these values are usually derived from Table 8-4 to Table 8-11 of AISC Steel Construction Manual, 13th Edition. Coefficients_C_for_Eccentrically_Loaded_Weld_Groups_v1.0 This excel application employs the instantaneous center of rotation method in accordance with AISC Specification 360-05 Section J2.4 for the weld patterns and eccentric conditions indicated and inclined loads at any degree. Since the method used in locating the instantaneous center of rotation of the weld group is iterative in nature, you must enable macro to use this application. Comments and suggestions are welcome to improve this excel application.

HSS Diaphragm Moment Connection This spread sheet calculates W type beam to HSS column connection. We can use this type of connection when the other type are not able to transfer the factored moment The reference used in the attached spread sheet is "Hollow Structural Sections-Connection Manual-AISC Copyright 1997. The example in this reference is in LRFD format and imperial units. I used metric units and the Canadian database is attached. The limit states are those indicated for the "Cut-out plate connection" which is very similar connection to this described here. This tool is not password protected in order to give the possibility to make minor changes. Obviously you can protect the spread sheet leaving the input cells(in red) not protected.This workbook contains 3 sheets. 1. Input & results, 2. Canadian database, 3. Sketch -could be printed and give it to the draftperson. This tool must be used only by professional engineers after thorough verification. I designed the tool of my best knowledge but I dont assume any responsibility in case of errors.

Standalone_Weld_Group_Coefficient_Calculator I call this perfection... This is the StandAlone version of Weld Coefficient Calculator. The program calculates the coefficient 'C' of a weld group. It returns values with 99.9% accuracy with respect to the tabulated values provided in Tables 8-4 to 8-11 of AISC Steel Construction Manual, 13th Edition.
