DECKSLAB Slab on metal deck analysis and design (both composite and form deck) per SDI and ACI 318-99.
Alex Tomanovich

2018 07

FloorFraming 14 Newly updated, Floor Framing helps engineers determine optimal composite steel and concrete slab on metal deck floor framing. It can design a typical interior bay and optimize the results for either the overall weight or relative cost of a framing system. Each such evaluation is based on strength, deflection limits, and vibration for walking excitation. This version now supports ANSI/AISC 360-05 and 360-10, as well as shape data from both the 13th and 14th Editions of the Steel Construction Manual. There is also now an option to use the lower bond moment of inertia for composite sections. This is an installer package; after downloading the .zip file you will need to double-click the .msi file to commence installation. Depending upon your IT practices, this may require Administrator privileges on your computer. FloorFraming_14_0_0 Floor Framing (formerly known as Parametric Bay Studies) can help engineers determine optimal composite steel and concrete slab on metal deck floor framing. This tool can design a typical interior bay and optimize the results for either the overall weight or the relative cost of the framing system. Each evaluation is based on strength, deflection limits, and vibration for walking excitation based on AISC Design Guide 11, Floor Vibrations Due to Human Activity . Each run takes less than a minute, so criteria such as slab density and thickness, column spacing, and loading can quickly be changed to optimize the floor framing. This tool was originally published as an AISC Steel Solutions Center 'SteelTool'. AISC no longer technically supports and maintains these files. This document has been prepared in accordance with information made available to the American Institute of Steel Construction at the time of its preparation. This is a full installation program. Please download the .zip file at the link above. After downloading and unzipping, double click on FloorFraming_V13_1.msi to begin installation. GRATING "GRATING.xls" is a workbook containing 9 worksheets for the purpose of analysis and design of welded steel grating and fabricated aluminum bar grating. Specifically, light duty steel or aluminum grating covered floors, platforms, walkways, trenches, etc. subjected to uniformly distributed gravity loading (dead + live), along with a concentrated line load may be analyzed. Light duty steel or aluminum grating may also be analyzed for an imposed wheel or post load. Heavy duty steel grating may be analyzed for vehicular wheels loads from either lift trucks with designated capacity or from AASHTO truck loading (H-20 and H-15). Bending stresses and deflections are checked against allowable values. Allowable load tables for grating are also included for quick selection of grating size or clear span based on either uniformly distributed or concentrated line loading, and allow for user input of a clear span value not specifically noted in the tables.

GRDSLAB This workbook is for concrete slab on grade analysis. There are worksheets for wheel/point loads, wall loads, and uniformly distributed loads. There are also 4 worksheets which are basic replications of the charts from a dated, but well renowned PCA publication for slabs on grade, dealing with wheel and post loadings.

HSS Diaphragm Moment Connection This spread sheet calculates W type beam to HSS column connection. We can use this type of connection when the other type are not able to transfer the factored moment The reference used in the attached spread sheet is "Hollow Structural Sections-Connection Manual-AISC Copyright 1997. The example in this reference is in LRFD format and imperial units. I used metric units and the Canadian database is attached. The limit states are those indicated for the "Cut-out plate connection" which is very similar connection to this described here. This tool is not password protected in order to give the possibility to make minor changes. Obviously you can protect the spread sheet leaving the input cells(in red) not protected. This workbook contains 3 sheets. 1. Input & results, 2. Canadian database, 3. Sketch -could be printed and give it to the draftperson. This tool must be used only by professional engineers after thorough verification. I designed the tool of my best knowledge but I dont assume any responsibility in case of errors.

Steel Deck Diaphragm Design The Hilti Profis DF Diaphragm Software Version 2.0 calculates diaphragm shear, flexibility factors and uplift resistance for steel deck roof and floor systems. The program is based on the Steel Deck Institute (SDI) Diaphragm Design Method and incorporates the latest ICC-ES AC43 performance data. The program incorporates a powerful design optimization feature with estimating and zoning functions in order to produce the most cost-effective steel deck design solution today.

ROOFDECK Spreadsheet program for the purpose of analysis and design of roofs with steel deck. Specifically, roof decks subjected to gravity loading (dead + live or snow) and wind uplift loading can be analyzed using either ASD or LRFD methods. Bending stresses as well as deflections are checked. Roof decks can be analyzed for either 1-span, 2-span, or 3-span configurations. Program allows user to select between four (4) different profiles of Vulcraft steel roof deck, 1.5A (narrow rib), 1.5B (wide rib), 1.5F (intermediate rib), and 3N (acoustical).
